“The Force is what gives a Jedi his power.”
~Obi Wan Kenobi

Do you remember the first time you heard the words, “May the Force be with you”?

My first encounter with Star Wars was in 1997, on the 20th anniversary of the film’s release. Like so many other instant Star Wars fans, I found the storyline and quirky characters mesmerizing. What fascinated me most about the Star Wars universe however was a presence called “The Force”, an intelligent web of energy that underlies all creation.

Jedi knight Obi Wan Kenobi best explained The Force when he described it as “an energy field created by all living things, surrounding and penetrating us, and binding the galaxy together.” What I love about the theory of the Force is that it is much more congruent with my interpretation of God than the anthropomorphic deity I was taught to believe in at Sunday school. But what I find even more intriguing are new scientific findings that suggest the “Force” may be closer to fact than fiction.

Scientific Evidence of “The Force”

A recent body of scientific evidence suggests that The Force may not be just a figment of George Lucas’ imagination. Since 1993, results from multiple scientific experiments all point to one conclusion – that living things are connected to an energetic presence that is eerily similar to The Force. These discoveries have baffled scientists, causing them to theorize that the empty “space” that surrounds us, might not be so empty after all.

Take for example a startling experiment conducted by the military, which demonstrated that DNA continues to respond to emotional stimulation even after being physically separated from the human body. In this cutting edge experiment, scientists discovered that electrical impulses measuring the emotional responses upon participants were synonymous with the electrical response of their DNA even when physically separated by a distance of up to 400 miles. Scientists have no idea what exactly it is that connects the donor with his/her DNA.

Then there is the study conducted by quantum biologist Dr. Vladimir Poponin, who discovered that DNA has a direct influence on the distribution of photons even after they have been removed from an isolated container. Again, whatever it is that connects the photons to the DNA is a complete mystery.

Both of these experiments along with other studies conducted by the institute of Heartmath and Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto suggest that a previously unrecognized energetic field or “Force” exists which transmits information across space and time.

So the next time you see Star Wars, you might want to take Darth Vader’s words to heart: “Don’t underestimate the power of The Force”. Science is beginning to reveal that it will be with us… always.
